Main Characters and Cast:

Yuri Nakamura: Harumi Sakurai – Yuri is one of the main characters that we see through out the series. She is a very extroverted person who is the leader of the SSS. Yuri is very bright yet mysterious. She has a great power of observation which has allowed her to survive and help protect those around her.
Yuzuru Otonashi: Hiroshi Kamiya – Otonashi is our main male character whos arch is developed through out the entire series. Otonashi is your typical Visual Arts/KEY main male character.
Tenshi/Kanade Tachibana: Kana Hanazawa – Kanade being my favorite character in this series is well played by the new rising seiyuu Kana Hanazawa. Kanade is a very introverted person whos character is developed mid/late series. Her personality and story grow on you.

Personal Thoughts:

For this being a Visual Arts/KEY production I was extremely excited to watch this series.  This series took me by surprise when I started watching it as it wasn’t KEY’s normal story setup and character development. It had a completely different feel than AIR, Clannad, or Kanon had. Again, it didn’t really fit into KEY’s norm of story development. Angel Beats was more scattered and had a story arc for nearly all of the main and supporting characters. I found the amount of romance, comedy, and action all satisfying and well balanced. I was highly disappointed when I saw that the series was only 13 episodes long. I felt that it deserved to be a 26 episode series. Each episode makes you want more. This series was extremely hard to put down once I started it. I would highly recommend this series to anyone. Not only is the series just brilliantly amazing; the OST is awesomely amazing too. One of the best things about this series is that there is a character for every different person to relate to. The character archs are detailed and well developed.
